The game had a very big importance for third-ranked A.Lobos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. A.Lobos smashed 4th placed Cojute at home 90-71. A.Lobos outrebounded Cojute 49-31 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. A.Lobos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Sean Scott (190-1997, college: Pfeiffer) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and guard Jerome Savoy (185, college: Pfeiffer) chipped in 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. A.Lobos' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997) with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with San Salvador. Cojute at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Cojute will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. A.Lobos will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked San Salvador on the road.
Important game to mention about took place in San Salvador. Sixth ranked Salvadorenos (4-4) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Independiente (3-5) 75-73 in the game for the fifth place. Colombian Michael Parra (201-1995) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Marcos Menjivar accounted for 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) came up with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists for Independiente in the defeat. Salvadorenos moved-up to fifth place. Independiente at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Salvadorenos will play against Santa Tecla (#9) at home in the next round. Independiente will play against Metapan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Santa Tecla supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked San Salvador (7-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Santa Tecla (2-6). San Salvador smashed Santa Tecla 104-82 on Tuesday. The best player for the winners was Brayan Garcia who scored 30 points and 7 rebounds. San Salvador's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Francisco Forbs who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds. San Salvador have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with A.Lobos. Loser Santa Tecla dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. San Salvador will meet at home league's leader A.Lobos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Santa Tecla will play against Salvadorenos (#5) in San Salvador and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 9 Brujos were destroyed by Cojute on the opponent's court 101-75.




Santa Tecla - San Salvador 82-104

The game in Santa Tecla supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked San Salvador (7-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Santa Tecla (2-6). San Salvador smashed Santa Tecla 104-82 on Tuesday. San Salvador made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Brayan Garcia (194-1998) who scored 30 points and 7 rebounds. Puerto Rican guard Victor Carattini (185-1992, college: PR-Bayamon) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. San Salvador's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Honduran Francisco Forbs (198-1999) who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds and forward Alejandro Barahona (189-1999) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists respectively. Rather expected game in Cojutepeque where 6th ranked Brujos (3-6) were crushed by fourth ranked Cojute (6-3) 101-75 on Friday. Cojute dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Brujos' 42. They outrebounded Brujos 52-41 including a 40-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cojute looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Brujos' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cojute made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 9 assists (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center Troidell Carter (206-1991, college: Slippery Rock) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Oliver Ferrerira who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Marcus Millien (188-2000, college: Carlow) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Cojute maintains fourth place with 6-3 record. Brujos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost.
